Class Descriptions
Mindful Movement (Somatics)
Led by Dr Botros and honoured guest Brenna Jacobson. A "Somatic" practice is an experience of reconnecting with our bodies by sensing and feeling what is present. Learn how to relieve pain, restore flexibility, strength, balance, and find freedom of movement with confidence and fun. In addition to physical benefits
this practice can also help relieve symptoms of trauma, anxiety and/or depression. Drawing from multiple modalities (trauma sensitive yoga, osteofit, pelvic floor rehab, and somatic therapy) Brenna Jacobson leads us through a practice that includes but is not limited to: basic movements (integration of shoulders, hips, legs and feet), breath work, extension/release techniques, exploration of functional movements, and visualization/mindfulness exercises. Together these practices will help you to increase relaxation, mobility, and quality of life. Movements can be modified for most physical limitations. This class is appropriate for those of all abilities. Covered by MSP for those with a medical indication eg) chronic pain, balance problems, anxiety, depression, physical immobility/restrictions, insomnia etc.

Functional Mindfulness/Guided Meditation with Dr Christina Botros MD, CCFP, IFMC
Dr Botros guides us through Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) which includes examining our the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and incorporating mindfulness practices to help self-regulate. This includes breath-work, meditation, and other mindfulness practices that will help you lower the physiologic burden of stress in your mind and body while increasing resiliency. This can help shift chronic pain, anxiety, depression, stress, and help improve sleep, mood, concentration, or even blood pressure. The newest series does so in relationship to the chakras in a playful way of incorporating Eastern and Western medicine together - relating our 7 chakras over 7 weeks of MBCT.

Functional Nutrition
6 week progressive series held led Dr Botros and Nutritionist Steve Fazzari. This series is designed to support you through an elimination diet to identify food sensitivities that may be causing abdominal pain/bloating, joint pain, rashes, brain fog, or other symptoms. Focused attention will be on digestion/absorption, intestinal
permeability, gut microbiota/dysbiosis, inflammation and immune activity in the GI tract, nervous system function, and macro/micronutrient optimization. Classes will be an interactive educational series that focuses on different topics weekly. Knowing what to eat (or what NOT to eat), and how food affects us, has become a confusing topic in modern society. Let us clarify the mystery around diet and teach you what the latest up to date research is showing. The series is progressive and so you are encouraged to sign up for each class in the series. Appropriate medical indications include but are not limited to abdominal pain/bloating, IBS, celiac disease, chronic pain, chronic constipation, functional dyspepsia, GERD etc.
